Thursday Baby Blogging

We've had "mama", "mumum" and the like for a couple of months, and occasionally there's a "boh-boh" as her formula warms in the microwave, but this week - at long last! - a breakthrough:

"Dada! Dadadada!"

Actually it sounds more like "Gaga". Well, I suppose I am that, too.

Your kid has a distinctly wicked grin on her face. Did she just eat a canary?

Nah, she'd probably been beating me up though.

Those eyebrows make me think of the Evil Baby character in The Simpsons. You know, Maggie's arch-nemesis. Though maybe she needs a cigar to complete the image. Cigars make excellent pacifiers, I hear.

I thought it was quite unusual for a baby to say 'mum mum' before 'da da'. Apparently 'm' is a harder sound and a more un-natural mouth shape. Anyway, I said our dog's name first.

Very smart child, getting her bilabials sorted first. The dentals are, as anonymous notes, usually easier.
She's quite a cutie, Mr. Sterne.
