Aw well

Orwell's diary is being published as a blog. Today's entry epitomises the intelligence, political and cultural insight, and humane decency of this great writer:
Drizzly. Dense mist in evening. Yellow moon.
Timeless.

Update (12/8): Gosh, now Eric's blackberries are "beginning to redden". Reading this, it's almost like you're there.

Have to admit I was rather taken with that entry.

Especially since it applies to both hemispheres. Oh, Melbourne.

They've done that with Pepys diary too, and the (original editions of) Spectator. Because, like, Steele and Addison would totally have used hyperlinks if they could have. And Mr Spectator apparently has a lot in common with Twisty. Apparently. Anyway, I'm glad the original Speccie is partly on line. By and by I might even read it.
